Kassanda Fitzmaurice, MSN, ARNP
Palliative Care Specialist

As a Family Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification and fellowship training in Palliative Care, I understand the unique challenges that arise when faced with a chronic disease or serious illness. Whether you or a loved one are experiencing this, it helps to have knowledgeable caregivers in your corner who take the time to understand your needs. I chose to dedicate my career to Palliative Care after working several years as a medical surgical nurse in a busy large-scale hospital. Through my early work experience, I realized that a “one size fits all” medical approach does not work. Truly improving overall wellness requires an individually tailored care plan, incorporating all aspects of the human experience.

Palliative Care is appropriate at any point in a serious illness and can be provided at the same time as treatment that is meant to cure. Whether it is prescribing medications to help mitigate the symptoms of illness, helping to address and clarify your goals of care, or assisting in the navigation of an increasingly complicated healthcare system, my aim is to improve quality of life by putting the needs of my patients and their loved ones first. I seek to establish trust and rapport in every patient interaction, creating a positive and lasting therapeutic relationship.

In my free time, I love to travel, read books, and brush up on my Spanish! Year round, I enjoy yoga and kickboxing. When the weather is nice, I can be found taking my two little dachshunds Millie and Leo to the dog park beach, stand-up paddle boarding, or going on a scenic hike in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
